I'd love to use independent bookshops but most of them have access like this so I can't get in. See also independent coffee shops.
This isn't a criticism of these specific businesses, just an observation of the kind of premises so many independent businesses operate out of.

Where do you start with this? "LED lights don't carry red wavelengths, they just mimic red light"

Can't believe it's taken me years to get round to seeing The Lady of Shallot by Waterhouse in person. Was introduced to it when doing Tennyson for O-level last century

I can definitely recommend the Lee Miller exhibition at Tate Britain

So lacking in photography inspiration at the moment. Think I need to find an accessible photo walk or similar group to do something with to restart things

Hearing people my age saying it's all funerals and care homes now rather than weddings and christenings. As someone with a life long disability, death has been an almost permanent presence in my life. Only about ⅓ of my peers from school are left. Most never saw 50

Why is it that even on empty trains/tubes bipeds still take up the wheelchair space?

Just chased my disabled freedom pass application as it's been 10 weeks since I applied (start of August). Apparently they are currently processing applications received in the first week of July! How can a straightforward application take that long?

A bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a wheelchair accessible photography studio for hire in London? I'm trying to plan a couple of studio shoots but finding it hard finding anywhere to shoot

I love how one of the symptoms of nerve agent poisoning is listed as "involuntary fecal incontinence" which suggests the existence of "voluntary fecal incontinence"

Anyone got good FOI knowledge? Does a request need to be made to a specific point of contact within an organisation or any of their points of contact?

Spooky literature folks, I've just had a memory bubble up of a tale about a chap camping on an island in a river, probably in northern Europe, that's posessed/sentient and he struggles to escape. Has an M R James feel but not sure it was his. Radio 4 did a dramatisation. Would love to find it again

The next medic that makes a snide comment inferring I'd still have legs if I managed my diabetes better is going to get properly roasted. Lost one in 1999, the other in 2021. Diabetes arrived January 2025

Interesting conversation with the surgeon. Apparently I've not quite got type 3c diabetes but I've not quite got type 2 either. Somewhere in between apparently
