If she's the only adult in a room full of coked up fascist hamsters, sure, let's remove her from the equation and let them descend into factional strife.

There's no way that guy didn't know Adams was unhinged back then. It's too spot on.

My reactions to your comment regarding landords suing tenants for money they didn't owe due to their own failure to meet section 8 requirements were 1. WTF? 2. That can't be legal 3. Oh, it doesnt matter if it's legal or not; of the tenant can't afford a lawyer they'll get away with it.

I got into an argument on twitter with someone about damages being paid out by the Dutch government to people in Iraq whose neighborhood got blown up because Dutch F16s blew up an ISIS munitions factory. Yes, it's a legitimate target, but with unacceptable collateral. Might does not make right

"I know I am, but what are you?" is the kind of retort our leaders should be able to answer, and if they can't we need to sit down and ask ourselves if perchance we are in fact the baddies.

I think one indisputably positive parts of Bidens legacy is elevating public defenders to the bench; the foul villany inflicted upon the poor through the legal system isn't something the middle/upper class people that normally get judgeships are remotely aware of.

Sounds like it basically functions as a training school for future Bens Shapiro.

Wait, am I reading that correctly that at some point there was a trend in national debate judging to explicitly reward people doing a Gish gallop?
December 5, 2025 at 11:53 AM
De facto, but their strength is considerably diminished. Remember, they did not fire anything during the Israel-Iran conflict earlier this year, despite being an Iranian proxy. But Israels violations of Lebanese sovereignty weaken the Lebanese state; if you can't provide security, whats a state for?
December 5, 2025 at 11:26 AM
It would change their behavior, in the sense that while they have their own arms industry, they don't have the capacity to replenish their magazine depth to the extend they need during large scale offensive operations. Meaning it would constrain their ability to act aggressively in the region.

How is this justification different from the one Hegseth is using to murder civillians on boats in the Caribbean? They claim those guys pose an immediate threat to the US, they apparently can't be extradited.

And secondly this bombing has harmed any rapprochement between Israel and Arab states.
December 5, 2025 at 11:21 AM
Yes, the problem is that the unconditional help Trump is giving is enabling Netanyahu to engage in acts of aggression.

Don't get me wrong, I hate those groups you mention with the fire of 1000 suns, but currently Israel is acting in ways that threaten to irreversibly erode international support.
December 5, 2025 at 11:18 AM
Ah yes, absolutely nothing has changed in the Syrian government in the last 15 years, it's still the same state that went to war with Israel in 1973. Have you not paid any attention to events since 2023 or are you just being obtuse?
December 5, 2025 at 11:12 AM
Let me take a moment to clearly state my position:
Should Israel exist: yes
Should the people in Israel live in peace and security: yes
Should Israel be allowed to act as a regional hegemon and impose its will on states in the region? no

We built this whole international order thing for a reason.

Qatar hasnt, Iran can't, the Lebanese state (not Hezbollah, their actual government) hasn't either, and Syria can't and again, the current Syrian government hasn't made any statements against Israel. Israel has bombed Syria since the fall of Assad on numerous occasions, they're the aggressor.
December 5, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Because they couldn't. You're arguing from a perspective that would make sense maybe 1.5 years ago, but Iran has been neutered, Syria is under new management and Lebanon is in flux, yet Israel continues to act as if the threat level hasn't changed. It has, and we shouldn't support their aggression.
December 5, 2025 at 4:02 AM
Yes, the Lebanese government did not have force of arms to enforce its will in significant portions of the country. But then Israel literally blew the dicks off a significant chunk of Hezbollahs middle management layer and then finished off Nasrallah. Hezb didn't respond to Israels attack on Iran.
December 5, 2025 at 4:00 AM
Is extrajudicial killing of a non-state actor with which you are at war justified? Maybe? I'm not a expert in international law. Killing Bin Laden in Pakistan definitely felt good but definitely raises questions. Bombing an allied capital rather than filing an extradition request? Hell no.
December 5, 2025 at 3:55 AM
Does the state of Lebanon (not Hezbollah) have a right to inviolable sovereignty in its internationally recognized territory, or do other countries get to act upon it with no regards to their statehood?
December 5, 2025 at 3:43 AM
Yes, it's a sovereign state not at war with Israel. Does that make them a legitimate target?
December 5, 2025 at 3:40 AM
If anything, we should give the Israeli government shit for helping keep Assad in power. But really I cannot find any distinction between their actions and those of the russian federation in the past 31 years. How is their attitude towards Syria even beyond the Golan different?
December 5, 2025 at 3:35 AM
The current Syrian government came into power about a year ago, and hasn't done anything to threaten Israel, the Lebanese goverment had been kowtowing to Hezbollah, but they got obliterated by Israel. Iran. And Qatar is nominally our ally hosting a US military base. Who deserves bombing?
December 5, 2025 at 3:30 AM
I think the difference is Ukraine is fighting for it's literal survival, while Israel is acting like a regional hegemon. Cutting off Israel from resupply of US arms wouldn't compromise their existence, they would lack the magazine depth to bomb Lebanon Syria Qatar and Iran without compromise.

"the two researchers’ data showed people with a “cancer-prone” personality were more than 120 times as likely to die from the disease as were those with a “healthy” personality" - you don't need to be an oncologist to sniff out the BS here. Unless someone compulsively snorts asbestos like cocaine.
