Crazy work.

We swore off Facebook years ago and created a private Google photos album to share pictures of our kid. Link available by request only. Not the most secure way to do it I'm sure, but it's stayed in the family (of choice) for years now.

And of course, mailed photos like the olden days.

Not me singing this to my husband!

Seriously this is the best. How often do you get to check the box of 'things I don't have to worry about killing me' anymore??

My first Discworld book was Going Postal. I've been reading whichever ones I can find at the library and it really doesn't matter where you start, it will be fun!
(I'm partial to any book where Vetinari is a recurring character)

There are many doctors and nurses that straight up do not listen to Black patients. You could run many stories about that.

This has been a known issue for decades. Maybe instead of yet another push for patients to do the work, residency programs and medical schools could start training out medical racism and bias in new doctors. Last I heard some were still teaching that Black people required less pain medication.

Black women experience maternal mortality at rates 2.5-4x higher than white women of the same age. mcpress.mayoclinic.org/pregnancy/bl...

This remains true regardless of socioeconomic status or educational attainment. There's a lot of factors involved but one of them is certainly medical neglect.

I'm with you, but this goes far beyond the Dobbs decision. Medical racism has been killing Black people for centuries.

In this case there's likely the combo of medical racism, lack of prenatal care and complications arising from a lack of resources (food deserts, hard working conditions, etc).

Cerberus was a good boy! His three heads all loved pats and music and walks.

I got a similar effect from seeing the Grand Canyon up close. The Colorado River has cut a mile deep into the Earth's crust over geological ages, and when we're all dead and gone it will continue to carve through the crust. It was humbling and exciting all at once.

I hope this thought process keeps Jacob from reproducing in the next 5 years. Then he can continue to not reproduce forever, kthx
