A joint meeting for two projects along Garvey Ave in Monterey Park: one (city, funded by the 710 stub reallocation) to implement curb extensions and another (SGVCOG "SGV Forward") to improve transit service. This is the 2nd round of meeting for the MPK one and the first here for the SGVCOG one.

These sort of ones (which I guess are the ornamental ones you mean), as opposed to the ~20 cm diameter ones with a stronger foundation that make sense where the goal is to absorb kinetic energy to protect pedestrians or for access control. Vegetation btw sidewalk and parking is also nice yeah

Will the hated historic zone prevent SB 79 from reaching its full potential in LA? Well, as @cohenhouse.bsky.social says, we should probably temper ourselves until the actual language of the amendment comes out. But until then, we can look at which areas have stations overlapping with HPOZs.

WSCCOG staff recommends awarding the BRT network design contract to STV. Nelson\Nygaard and TY Lin also submitted proposals. The goal remains to "ensure at least one quick-build corridor can be implemented before the LA28 Games". Will see anything interesting's in the proposals via PRA request.

On the other hand the aesthetic issues with concrete are mostly mitigable imo, this is poured in place (with particularly deep sawcuts I think) and looks nice + visually consistent utility boxes

3. SCOPE OF SERVICES The primary goal of this Project is to ensure that bus infrastructure along the selected corridors is shovel ready by late-2026. Proposers are strongly encouraged to suggest creative and innovative methods and solutions to ensure that the Project remains on schedule without sacrificing necessary bus infrastructure improvements. Since efficiency is a top priority for the WSCCOG, the Consultant may work on tasks and submit deliverables concurrently or in a different order than is listed below based on WSCCOG staff approval. The scope for the existing conditions review, at a minimum, shall include the work mentioned below. The Consultant may propose other work(s) that will help inform the design and shall provide relevant details in the proposal. a. Traffic operational review using available multi-modal data. This review includes Levels of Service (LoS) analysis at intersections with available counts. b. General flow of traffic, pedestrian and bicyclist movements, lane configurations and turning movement needs at intersections and driveways. c. Assess truck delivery, food delivery, and passenger loading uses; parking needs; and curb utilization in the Project corridors. The Consultant shall recommend an approach for conducting the analysis, describe the rationale for the approach, and recommend options to achieve Project goals. d. Identify segments that may not require transit priority infrastructure due to considerations such as low traffic volumes. The Consultant shall summarize the results in a memo with conceptual maps and discuss the findings with the WSCCOG Project Team for Project design development. The Consultant should anticipate up to two rounds of review from the WSCCOG Project Team at each phase of design (10%, 30%, 60%, 100%). Task 2.2: Basemapping and 10% Design The Consultant shall work with the Project Team to solicit input from relevant member jurisdiction departments and elected officials and propose quick-build bus infrastructure designs for the selected corridors. The Consultant is encouraged to work with existing and past design consultants, including but not limited to the MOVE Culver City design consultant, to coordinate designs and develop consistency between projects. Bus infrastructure should first and foremost be designed to improve transit speed, reliability, safety, and travel time. As this Project is meant to be implemented quickly, the Consultant shall provide cost-effective design concepts that would allow for such implementation. After verifying field conditions and collecting traffic data that includes but is not limited to topographical surveying, the Consultant shall divide the remaining corridors into segments of approximately one (1) mile each based on right-of-way width, character, land use, and other conditions. The Consultant will develop up to two (2) dimensioned cross sections for each segment that will be used for the next round of public engagement. Once the dimensioned cross sections have been confirmed based on public feedback and WSCCOG Board approval, the Consultant shall provide a conceptual striping plan for each of the remaining corridors. If necessary, some segments may have more than one conceptual striping plan to ensure that the Consultant can make an informed recommendation for the preferred alternative. Conceptual striping plans should be developed to be easily understood by a non-technical audience. As this is a quick-build project, the Consultant shall propose cost-effective design concepts that allow for quick implementation. Once the conceptual striping plans are completed for the remaining corridors, the Consultant shall begin another round of community engagement to gather feedback related to the designs. Design elements to consider may include but are not necessarily limited to: a. Proposed transit lanes along the corridors b. Proposed transit signal priority along the corridors, if applicable c. Options for accommodating loading zones for goods movement truck delivery, food delivery, and passenger loading; parking; and curb space utilization along the Project corridor and/or on side streets. d. Changes to curb-side parking, signing, pavement markings, connectivity with bus stops and amenities. e. Proposed bus stop(s) for each existing route and any improvements required if the bus stop(s) are not existing stops. f. Pedestrian safety features including, but not limited to, quick-build pedestrian bulb-outs or mid-block refuge islands g. It looks like you could go up through the Leadville valley to get to Vail and beyond... then need to tunnel to get to Steamboat Springs on the W side of that range (red); to get to Saratoga WY (green) it's hard. Maybe you can just stay in the Platte valley instead, not sure where the E border lies
