If no mutually acceptable solution is found, both existing & additional EU measures will automatically take effect on 14 July—or earlier, if circumstances require.

In the event that our negotiations do not lead to a balanced outcome, the EU is prepared to impose countermeasures, including in response to this latest tariff increase.

The Commission is currently finalising consultations for an expanded list of countermeasures.

The EU paused its countermeasures on April 14 to create space for continued negotiations.

And presidents von der Leyen & Trump agreed to accelerate talks.

EU technical teams are in Washington, and in-person political meetings will take place later this week in Paris.

The Tribunal found that the UK prohibition on sandeel fishing in English waters breached the obligation to grant EU vessels full access to those waters.

The UK is required to comply with the final ruling and shall inform the EU within 30 days of the measures it will take.
