The profile of a shop worker on a Saturday/Sunday is very different to the profile of a shop worker midweek.

Most doctors already are working on average every other weekend, providing out of hours cover, hospital work, existing weekend clinics.

Not really a like-fpr-like comparison. One is a sector where we have a finite number of qualified people so we need to decide how best to deploy them. The other is a sector that employs huge numbers of people who can be rostered interchangeably in all manner of ways that suit their circumstances.

Most doctors do work weekends already, either in hospital or providing out-of-hours GP cover. What you are asking is for them to work *more* weekends.

Or we could see maintaining our health as important enough to warrant taking time out of our working week. After all, it's you giving up one day vs the doctor giving up every weekend.

Surely it's Amol Rajan as DG is about the only job in the BBC he hasn't yet done...

Could we tax the fuel in the tank on arrival, offset by any taxed fuel you purchase in the UK?

I'm sure the rest of the world is really glad that the BBC combined the global news channel with the UK service.

I dunno, I reckon @geofftech.bsky.social could make a whole series out of the best toilets on the rail network.

(For absolute clarity, I didn't have a decision-making role in awarding the grant; but obviously they needed subject matter expertise to make sure that money went to most appropriate bidder, so I was there whilst decisions were taken).

Erm, when Do-it span out of YouthNet in 2013, Nick Hurd (then Civil Society Minister) offered £1m grant to new owner. I was involved in process, as SME/senior operational lead for Do-it at YN, but would be TUPE'd to new owner. So I then got to spend the money that I'd been involved in awarding!

For a moment there I thought you meant of me awarding myself £1m. Now that would be an interesting shot...

Oooh... I've actually had a meeting in one of the turret rooms (the one nearest Birdcage Walk). It's where I got to award myself £1m (sort of).

We could definitely see Big Ben from there.

It's bang on brand for an article about AI to start with a factual inaccuracy.
