- stingless bees deposit resin around their nest entrance to deter predators
- if intruders are trapped in the sticky resin, guard bees attack until they're repelled or glued to be killed
- the assassin bugs found a loophole (continued)

Tool use in insects: Assassin bugs apply resin to their forelegs before a stingless bee hunt. This makes the bees attack the bug in just the right position to be caught!

Worked a youth outreach event over the weekend and it absolutely broke my heart when a kid told me he doesn't have a favourite animal because "there's a chance they'll go extinct soon and I'd be too sad".
