Yes, I realized that after posting. Apologies. But I still insist on fighting the good fight against split infinitives. They are the thin edge of the grammatical wedge. Next thing we know is you’ll be “sat” somewhere instead of “sitting” 🙈

Oh so nice. First time I’ve seen them together. So sweet.

Can we pay to go on the trip (from Switzerland)?

At lunchtime?

Rumpole would be appalled.

Totally agree, especially since it seems they use a lot of the proceeds to help for the medical care of needy dogs. Considering that, it's worth paying the shipping and import fees.

Oh gosh. I love Bendor Grosvenor, but I wish he wouldn't split his infinitives. Especially in a headline. I wish everyone would stop splitting infinitives. I totally agree with Bendor about forgetting the present, though.

Love this film. In my view, much more racy than My Favorite Wife, to which it always seems to be unfairly and unfavorably compared. That ending always gets me. Very not Hays Code-y. Post-code comedies could always get away with a lot more than people seem to remember.

I never have, but I impatiently wait for their videos of the good dogs every week. It's a Friday highlight. (keep kinda thinking about buying something, but never wear tees or sweatshirts; and anyway, everything costs a shit tonne to ship to CH).

Seems like locals think it's a bit unnecessary since traffic supposedly isn't that bad. But it will incorporate both cars and freight, so on balance, I have to think it will be a positive thing. I understand local irritation since these Grands Projets can be quite disruptive (and expensive).

The potential race sounds amazing. Mixed emotions about the rail project. Sounds like a good idea long term to get cars off the roads. But immediate damage/disruption possibilities are hard to feel sanguine about.

Wow, so great to see. I remember reading in a bio of Ida Lupino that she'd join Hayden on his boat (with another friend, I'll need to look up who), and they would call it a "swab and screw" voyage. All in fun, it seems. Damn. It's in William Donati's book on Ida. Need to revisit that one.

Sounds familiar. 🤞

Nice to see the pug has a pretty proper snout too. Another example of human cruelty through breeding. I’ve rescued pugs before and they are wonderful, but it’s so sad to see them suffer with breathing issues.

Looks like a lovely design for an Hermès scarf.

Very happy for you and your new little friend. Our very handsome Luca is a tuxedo. Very symmetrical aside from his face markings. Not visible in this photo are his perfect spats. Housemates Gina and Lilli in the background.

Maybe some Carthusian bread runs?

Oh dear. Painfully prophetic words.

Lovely. Makes me want a glass of wine.

Though Leo G. Carroll was in Spellbound, that first image is actually John Emery on the couch.

My Swiss family has a coat of arms. It's a man holding onions.

“What are you doing with my wife dressed like that?”

“I’m not dressed like that!”

Oh I’m so sorry. Heartbreaking.
