I never knew they can be found in Japan as well. I found one two years ago in the Netherlands but from what i've read they are not native here, but originate from the mediterranean area. Is it native to Japan?

Maybe a pupa of a Black Arches / Nun moth (Lymantria monacha)? Certainly resembles it.
