Oh dear, the bullshit is spreading to Japan. As if there aren't enough "innovative" hydrogen train projects in Europe that failed completely. Battery trains too... Electrifying has proven to be the only serious choice if you want sustainability.
The MLIT has decided to only allow BEMUs or hydrogen trains to be introduced to unelectrified rural railways in Japan. The policy comes into effect in 2031, and existing diesel trains across the country will gradually be replaced.

I've seen numerous examples of this in recent days - we're at a point where some reporters are using LLMs as a source and not even remotely properly factchecking, but also where LLM generated material is making its way into other material and being unknowingly reproduced by others.
WTF? I was quoted in this story but I have never spoken to the reporter nor would I have said those things. Is everything just generated by LLMs these days?

The young people want populism. Sanseitō and Democratic People's Party together reach almost half the votes in the age range of 18-29. I say it's time to teach the grandpas at the Communist Party how to use tiktok. Populism can be left wing too. I think we need it, everywhere right now.

Seems like more than protection from foreign capital, Japan needs protection of renters rights. A 2.5x price hike should be out of question and illegal.
A Chinese real estate developer back off his attempt to kick out the residents of a building he owned in Itabashi, Tokyo to make it an illegal AirBnB. Residents were facing a 2.5x rent increase - from 72.5K ($500) to 190K yen ($1,310).
