Well, both, right? It would otherwise, no doubt, be clear, but due to sediment, and possibly sewage, it is brown. The point being, this water is nasty and really, in normal circumstamces you'd want to avoid touching it. OTOH, when there is no other choice, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I am duly impressed, but why...I'm sorry, this is the Mom in me speaking...WHY is there water in that pot? On a gas stove...🫣
