The characters can be turned into energy beings and battle the monster, then they have to figure out how to turn back into physical form. Maybe destroying the beast changes them back, maybe it's exposure to a certain type of energy, or being transmat beamed and reassembled. 4/5

A story built around this monster would be a mining colony with disappearing miners. Sensors show they're there but not encountered as they've been turned into an energy field by the creature and though they exist in the real world, they can't interact with it except by affecting energy fields. 3/5

Rolling for What, Size, Mission, Powers gave me: Super-Evolved Life Form Energy Field (No DMG from physical attacks), Human Sized (12 HP), Study a species, Powers are: Super Fast (2x move and actions/attacks/round) and Transform Target (I decided into energy so it can be studied easier). 2/5
