I haven't attempted NaNo since 2021. I love & live for collaborative storytelling, but it's been nice to indulge in something that's by and for me first. feels like those muscles atrophied in the past four years. this NaNo felt like healing

Actually. Just realized there were 37 returns on "heartbeat" (singular) for the entire trilogy. So that's like 12 times per book. Mabe it was an editorial mandate and Andor's "No more than 12" is actually a reference to that

Look we gotta give him credit for paring it down from "a handful of heartbeats" in the first half of the book to just "a pair" for most of the rest.
Tho he does put in one more "handful" near the end. As a treat
