Avoiding the horrors by reading horror.

I like comics and movies and books and history. I don't like politics but it's happening to me anyway.

Warning: bad at social media.

Remember that ice tested the tactics they would eventually unleash and Los Angeles and across the country here first and it appears they are doing the same with what appears to be a warrantless raid of a home in order to black bag it’s residence who are citizens
fascist terrorism is accelerating.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

We reviewed Gregory Bovino and his agents’ tactics in Chicago. From a shooting to Slim Jims, the feds’ poor tactics made for needless safety risks for the public and the officers themselves. “Simply reckless,” former police superintendent said.

Evil.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

It’s clear from the video this woman had just come to the park to play with her child. She said as much and was upset that there were masked men with guns in the park.

Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino calls the woman an “activist” and Andy Ngo says the woman was using her child as a “human shield.”

Yeah this is what's wild imo. If this had been Rehnquist 2.0 - conservative & supportive of GOP policies but applying at least some coherent legal principle that occasionally bucked the White House - it could have enacted lasting Constitutional change. But the only jurisprudence here is "6-3 F you"
A court with a normal-ish conservative majority would have been tolerable. I'm not eager for court packing, impeaching justices, and other such options. But this court sticking around post-Trump is untenable. They've already torched their own legitimacy, the only question is what do we do about it.
Democrats need to lay the groundwork for reform by attacking the villains on the Supreme Court - loudly, angrily, personally, relentlessly. And they should start now.

It's kind of amazing how this SCOTUS is dedicated to proving every tenet of critical legal theory correct
What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.
