I grew up reciting the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, admiring astronauts, soldiers, policemen, teachers, and healthcare workers. I was not pleading allegiance to an ethnonationalist state that ignores due process, ships poor immigrants to slave prisons, and deliberately fucks over the poor.
