A hot take that no one asked me for: your caring profession is not a caring profession unless both its pedagogy and praxis are trauma informed.

“We never know how our small activities will affect others through the invisible fabric of our connectedness. In this exquisitely connected world, it’s never a question of “critical mass. It’s always about critical connections.”

I haven’t done this in a minute, but this was book 49 of 2025. Tech Agnostic by @gregmepstein.bsky.social - it felt like a pretty necessary read, and I highly recommend it. #booksky

I feel like the only sane reaction to this news is to just silently lay down in the grass.

As corporations rush to adopt GenAI in all facets of their operations, are we seeing ANYONE talk about how they are trying to do this and also be stewards of the environment? ANYONE???

I continue to believe that in times like these, we all share a collective duty NOT to splatter our demotivating feelings of doom and despair all over everybody else in public.

I don’t care if it makes YOU feel better. This isn’t about YOU.

Deal with those feelings outside of public venues.
anyway I’m going out to protest this weekend because we haven’t been beaten yet, and I suggest you do the same

it’ll make you feel better than reading an endless stream of posts about how we’re all doomed and we might as well offer ourselves up to be processed into slurry for the MAGA AI mines now

I *still* feel so disoriented by the fact that we suddenly live in a world where avoiding AI feels nearly impossible.

The world is awful, so the level at which I was dissatisfied by this season of The White Lotus seems particularly cruel as a result.

The library is the only place that Americans experience the fullness of what it means to remove goods from the market. It pings our consciousness. Hey we could love differently!
Internet friends, I understand if you are green with envy at me for attending this great talk last night!

"Who's afraid of libraries?" was the rhetorical opener and I loved the point (among many) that libraries are where things are free. "a CVS looks really weird after you've been to the library."
A rainy Monday night. A rusty writer/speaker. A full house. An enthusiastic discussion.

I left with a bottle of brown.

Thank you, Durham Public Library, all the Tre-yonce fans, and #LibraryFest25.

Don’t forget to hold onto, savor, and even to pursue joy. It is both fuel and reward, and we need it to flourish like flowers need the sun. 🌸

I’m preaching in my home congregation tomorrow which I get to do about once a year. We’re celebrating Trans Day of Visibility and what it means to make our love visible in the world. The work is hard. The work is a gift. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

You guys I think collectively we’re going to have to come up with some other commentary when quoting posts about the horrors other than “this is bad” bc tbh somehow that no longer has meaning.

A bill passed the TN senate today that would require children to be taught in school that in order to be successful in life, you must get married and have children. I don’t even know how to process this.

Meanwhile beauty. I love how everything, no matter how small or ethereal casts a shadow, the shadow of a flower is just as shadowy as the shadow of a gun, and if you love light then you should love shadows.
