We've just deployed an update to Gatheringstats.com.

You can now filter the MTG player rankings by nationality.

There's a bunch of quality of life improvements and all the data from recent events, too.

We uncovered a lot of data on Nationals as well, but if you can fill holes, please reach out.

Historical metagame diversity at Pro Tours.

(For the ones in the chart the decks or a metagame breakdown were in the respective coverage.)

Interesting how Wizards managed to consistently provide a great Standard format for a period of three years (2013-16), but hardly ever before or after that.

Pro Tour Chicago 1999 had a few weird decks in the Top 8.

The format was Extended and Bob Maher won it with his Enlightened Control. Some very specific choices include Ivory Mask and Trade Routes.

Brainstorm with fetch lands before "real" fetch lands makes an appearance, too.

Imagine a Pro Tour where all the most broken cards of Magic's history are legal --Academy, Will, Necro, Vamp, you name it-- and you show up with this deck.

Olle Rade did just that at the 1998 PT Rome. Amazingly his faith in good ol Savannah Lions rewarded him with a Top 8.

True king of the beasts!

In case you ever wondered who came up with the idea of a Tempo deck, this is what Jason Zila played at 1997 PT Paris.

Probably not coincidentally the format was dominated by Magic's first successful combo deck, ProsBloom.

Unfortunately Zila didn't get to play Bloom in the quarters...
