if it passes the 5-foot rule, I'm going to be very happy and call that a win.

You shouldn't be that close to me if you're not my handler (@ptoughneighpjs.bsky.social) anyway, what are you doing bruh~ 😤

context: given how many failures I've had (and the time cronch) we're gonna do this a little diff; I need to sketch out the stuff and switch to papercraft...

this is entirely an issue of misunderstanding settings as well as using the wrong model due to what is available to me.
especially bc I can't do rapid prototyping, I can't do much about the original model I was using: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5902201

I'll probably test the simplified one soon™️
CUFF-LINKS by li593776469

I'm fairly new to 3D printing as a technique (I've given all my skill points have been towards Fabric Meistering); trying to get the cufflinks made through exclusively public services (via libraries) has been a fascinating journey this year

All my prints are failures so far. #🪡

actually I lied, like a liar. there was 1 mid progress pic. LMAO

now if only the blood sacrifice was taken earlier I wouldn't have as many issues perhaps with the Printer Gods...
The Cosplay Gods have taken blood sacrifice.

All will go well~

Getting the strips on was a pain in the ass, and most of it had to be tacked by hand. No pics of that process because I kept bleeding all over EVERYTHING despite having thimbles and whatnot.

Meanwhile I vectorized and scaled the Bridges logo, used a freezer paper stamp method to stamp #🪡

what I found the most annoying was the ratio of the width of the stripes on Bridges uniforms. I thought I could get away with some left over ribbon, and then cover that in a layer of sparkly vinyl. It was too much of a hassle and I ended up going "meh" and cutting corners. It's not that deep. #🪡

Whatever compounds and dye process that Lee's jean coveralls go through, despite every tag saying 100% cotton, I could not bleach/lighten the twill, even with direct bleach on the thing. I spent SO MANY rounds of lightener ratios, tea baths, sun... the only thing that kinda worked: iDyepoly :/ #🪡

The nighmare starts with this goddamn jumpsuit. While I did have a pattern kicking around... somewhere... I think... I also couldn't be bothered to sew it up, especially when I lucked out and found one for literally a quarter?

Little did I know, this one piece was going to give me the most grief...

I've used FOSS software for a long time. I don't trust a lot of the "aDoBE aLtERnAtIvEs" lists floating around bc it's people who don't understand jank shit you have to do to make things work...

That's why I'm always amazed by Blender's glow up. So I always have hope for better tools and gui/ux

like Ink/Stitch

inkstitch.org

Other FOSS:
- Inkscape
- Krita
- Gimp
- Darktable
- Rawtherapee

Are they perfect?
Not by any means. But philosophically speaking, I'd rather support community built/supported projects over some of the proprietary shenanigans and planned obsolescence

I could try making a few more alterations but my hopes aren't high...

I'm soooo glad I didn't hand over my ride-or-die nifty-fifty otherwise... but, I need to get it seen sooner rather than later

it may take me too long to get money for a modern lens that does AF and whatnot, instead of my vintage analogs, but my motivation has been so low lately...

I think I remember Wild Ginger popping up in a search back in the mid '00s? It was still cheaper to go to Walmart, get a bunch of patterns and fuck them up. Best way to learn~

when you're ready for books, pick one system and stick with it until It All Clicks.
