I just figure that we all have gaps in knowledge and, for whatever reason, this is one for a lot of people. I'm not sure what my follow up question for someone who does physics would be.

I think they're probably just trying to be friendly and make conversation and grasping for an easy follow up.

I'll tell people I did my PhD in Japanese studies and have lived in Japan doing research for years and they ALWAYS ask this as a follow up lol...

Okay I would ABSOLUTELY watch this version of Christmas Carol.

As a general rule, with Who (and probably with most art produced in capitalism), the bigger the budget, the safer the end product. As BFA's budget increased, their products got much worse. Same with the TV show.

There's a few exceptions, and tons of low budget duds too, but... I think that's right.
November 24, 2025 at 5:41 AM
I will say, the classic series, imho precisely because it had the budget for exactly one (cheap) shoestring, could be more experimental and interesting when it wanted to be (Kinda+Snakesance, Ghost Light, Enlightenment, City of Death, etc).

But the best who is undoubtedly in the early-mid BFA stuff

Battle of Olympus?! That game is fantastic! My second favorite Zelda 2 after Faxanadu!

I think a good counter-measure would be two-fold.

1) Emphasize the easy/cheap access to goods we have now. I mean I just bought galangal on amazon yesterday for 10 dollars. Could NOT have done that 10 years ago.

2) Tackle enshittification somehow through regulation to kill off that model entirely.
November 9, 2025 at 5:44 PM
Then apps moving to subscription models, getting worse+expensive, etc. Day-to-day 'feels' more expensive due to enshittification. All this stuff exploded over the last decade.

tbh I think whoever tackles enshittification will have a lasting impact on economic anxiety. Not talked about enough imho.
November 9, 2025 at 5:40 PM
tbh, I think a lot of this economic anxiety is due to enshittification. In people's 'yearly-life' their income was going up, and life was getting better/cheaper through access to cheaper goods, but their sort of 'monthly experience' (netflix, ubereats, etc) were both getting more expensive and worse

I didn't realize this was a gif and just saw the first frame and was SO confused.

She's also famously very close with AOC, who is one of the most powerful Dems right now (and may well be president someday)!

She's a knowledgeable navigator of national politics and has the connections she needs to ensure her position is heard by important power brokers!

Also not for nothing, but McBride, despite being in the House, worked behind the scenes to keep Senate Dems unified against the health care ban.

She's been an incredible navigator of national politics, whatever you might feel on rhetoric.
Inside the Democratic Effort to Kill the GOP’s Gender-Affirming Care Restriction in Reconciliation
Democrats are having a hard time figuring out how to message on trans issues — but they quietly killed a provision in the reconciliation bill that would have restricted access to gender-affirming care...

Interesting that those get labeled as 廃品. While it's easy to read as part of the general anti Western culture during WWII (bans on jazz and baseball), Japan certainly had a film industry during the war.

Are those film reels she's carrying?

I recently had to do this... For some reason Word turned all my single quotes into weird double-space characters that ran into the next word. I think because I work in JP/EN.

I could manually fix each (100s of hits), but mass find+replace didn't work at all.

Libreoffice worked though!
October 15, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Oh I'm sad this one is lost, it looks fun.
October 15, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Oh and is the JP only content to be ported over? If you need a translator, I'd be happy to pitch in to make sure this is the most definitive version of the game.

One, extremely esoteric question: the song Melrode (my favorite on the OST) has a flaw in its MIDI instruments iirc, introducing an annoying crackle in the song.

I was wondering if this is something that could be fixed in this version or if that's not really possible.
October 14, 2025 at 1:43 PM
I just wanted you to know how excited I am for this project!

I can't wait to play! I'm a big Quest 64 apologist. The game is good and has immaculate vibes!

I got access to sloptok and it was disturbing.

I thought I'd go on there, laugh at how horrible the videos were, and move on.

But instead I felt this intense hollowness - this sensation of looking into a void of 'nothing' given form: no soul, no morality, no creativity.

It was deeply unsettling.

1) Excuse me PRIMM-er???

2) What about where it's used strictly for its orthographic value, ie "a primer (PRIMM-er) on primer (???)"
