This is theater. Trump wouldn’t have done a complete 180 and told House Republicans to vote for release if he didn’t think that there was some measure in place to prevent harm from coming to him. Likely through Pam Bondi selectively releasing info due to the ongoing investigation or big redactions.

I would argue that Kristol isn't a *crank* in this sense of the term; his beliefs seem to be genuinely held and at least founded largely in reality, even if he's drawn some historically bad conclusions from them in previous years. Crankery is like QAnon shit or chemtrails or other insane shit.
