Some conservative lunatics illegally obtained private info on the candidates in the by-election and then one of them emailed all of us (without hiding addresses with BCC) trying to get a reaction but hiding behind asking policy questions.

There’s so much to be said about how cynical, how bloviating, how utterly beyond the pale this is, but the thing coming up for me most is the audacity to put such conditions on a symbolic gesture that actually does nothing to address the immediate mass starvation and genocide of an entire people.
🚨Here’s Mark Carney just now, announcing Canada’s (conditional) intent to recognize a Palestinian state in September:

205❤️We did it friends 😀
A huge thank you to all involved!
We hope MPs hear our message and do the right thing: recuse themselves and pass decisions on election law to a permanent, non-partisan, and independent body, such as a citizens' assembly to decide👍

Elections Canada runs our elections, an independent, permanent, nonpartisan body. ✅

We need a similar body, call it Election Rules Canada, to oversee democratic reform.

MPs only change election rules to help themselves and this is a big flaw, one we’re asking be fixed. ❤️

Excited to be on the ballot in Battle River-Crowfoot and part of the longest ballot in Canadian history! Canadians deserve election reform and this is a fun and effective way to get people talking about it. Thanks @longestballot.bsky.social for your amazing organizing!

They pull this off because the execution and aesthetic are really strong, but I would describe Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s tone as “What if Battlestar Galactica had Minions in it?”

During the election, Carney claimed it was elbows up against the Americans. He lambasted Russia’s violations of international law, and said he would build alliances with countries that defend human rights and international law.

Now he’s falling in line behind US hostility and hypocrisy.

Sadly what I feared for this movie. My interest plummeted as soon as I realized that this was an official F1 product, not just a film about F1 racing.
Embargo is up!
This movie is an ad. And at the beginning one of the characters is like “oh well, we’re in debt to the tune of about (budget of very expensive movie) but we just have to win one race” so everyone involved is phoning this in knowing F1®️ The Movie can eat the loss.

Short of a revolution, we need electoral reform to start crawling back towards good governance. Canadians, take part in any campaigns you can to get Proportional Representation implemented! I'll be submitting to this special committee in BC consultation-portal.leg.bc.ca/consultation...

I was working in a furniture store in Vancouver and one day I asked a man if he needed help and he turned around and it was Eric McCormack. Real jump scare moment. He did not need help.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

AI is totally on the verge of overtaking humans any day now
Google and Meta search both report that Cape Breton Island has its own time zone 12 minutes ahead of mainland Nova Scotia time because they are both drawing that information from a Beaverton article I wrote in 2024

Why do I get the sense that Canada's AI strategy will be to give private companies with sharehodlers in foreign countries a bunch of money to do sweet fuck all or to fire their domestic employees?
