THREAD 🧵

What if the most important curriculum in teacher education isn’t written down?
Not the one in policy or paperwork, but the one built quietly in trust, reflection, and becoming.

We talk often about curriculum, objectives, outcomes, intent…
but there’s another one, hidden between the lines.

The invisible curriculum.
It’s written in trust.
Delivered through silence.
Assessed in confidence, not checklists.

I’ve come to realise that mentoring isn’t about perfect advice or polished forms.

It’s a slow conversation between two people who are both becoming something new.

A teacher learns to teach; a mentor learns to believe again.

The Invisible Curriculum of Mentoring

It’s rarely the formal feedback that stays with you.
It’s the look. The silence.
The half-smile that says you’ve got this even when you haven’t.

I’ve finished my MA dissertation.

128 pages, 36k words —can’t believe it’s done!

Balancing everything has been challenging; my wonderful family (2 young boys), work, the podcast, amongst other things.

Thanks for the support

Proud of completing and proud of what I’ve produced.

It has to be a flat no. I’m not really sure where it would have a place or how it would be justified?
I find it challenging when it’s used in yr 9 as a precursor to exam subjects in ks4. I wonder where the notion of its intrinsic benefit comes from.
