As a long time Supergirl fan, it’s been a bit of a mindfuck as Beloved’s rewatch of Grey’s Anatomy has gotten up to where Lexi appears.

It’s Baby Alex Danvers!

I could not think of a better name or descriptor for Valentines Day than Pink Halloween
In honour of Pink Halloween, to borrow, as I do every year, Robyn Wilder’s great coinage, #RecipeOfTheDay is Custard Cream Hearts! They’re also this month’s Cookalong, and there’s a link to how to enter in the recipe intro www.nigella.com/recipes/cust...

I have what I like to think of as a Wildean thing about reproducing artifice by more natural means. Thus, in How To Eat, I gave a recipe for digestive biscuits, and now I find myself propelled towards...

Annoyed at this, not because I give a fuck about American influencers, but because Trump will bring TikTok back and be everyone’s hero, even though he kicked it off in the first place

Please take this to heart. I want to be chatting with you but if you’re constantly reposting outrage bait into my feed I will unfollow. I don’t have the capacity to be constantly anxious and freaked out about something I can’t change. I have my own shit to deal with.
I’m also gonna be discerning about the things I repost. Hitting that repost button shouldn’t be instinctive, it should be thoughtful. The tendency to share every single thing that horrifies or outrages us doesn’t serve a greater good. Gonna ask myself what my goal is before hitting that button.

Scroll past all the good news to read the article at the end on sludge:

The challenge is learning to see our information ecosystem for what it has become — a vast apparatus fine-tuned to amplify our darkest impulses — and then having the wisdom to step away from it.

Something that is very true of charismatic abusers is that they don't just charm the people they are abusing. They work hard to make sure that the community around them considers them to be of impeccable character it makes it harder for things to come out and harder for those things to be belidved

Yeah. The nature of very talented abusers is that they curate a huge carapace around them of influential and respectable people to whom they are always charming, affable, thoughtful and sincere. Grooming is a thing that happens to everyone in their orbit, not just the victims.

This is nicer that what I woke up thinking - the ASL haters are not just Nazis, but they are the dumbest motherfuckers alive. You have to have literal holes in your brain to think sign language is just ‘gesticulating’.
obviously the people making these attacks are pieces of shit but i think there's a subtler form of ignorance too where less malicious people think ASL is just a means of getting across English gesturally or something that could be conveyed as well via text. it's its own language with distinct rules!
🔊 PSA for nondisabled people 🔊

It's time to step the FUCK up if you wanna be an ally.

ASL interpretation is being targeted by right wing cry baby douchebags.

Shut this shit down when you see it. SPEAK UP. This barrage of ASL hate is heavier than usual.

I've consumed art by plenty of horrible people, but they tend to be dead for the most part, or at least had some self-awareness. No sheep's clothing in evidence. But now Gaiman's entire career just looks like a long con to me. Deep cover.

They’re banning TikTok not because it harvests data, the same way US social media does, but because they can’t influence it’s algorithm with congressional hearings or government contracts the way they do every other tech giant. That’s it.

I was wondering if this would arc up again. Realistically, the best case scenario is Gaiman never sticks his head above the parapet again, and while "retired in monied comfort" doesn't sound like much of a punishment, no longer being the dark prince of cosy fantasy will be a wound that never heals.
I knew this piece about Neil Gaiman was in the works, and still, I felt sick reading it.
