You may have seen estimates of how much America has spent on failed national missile defense systems. But Stephen Schwartz is the true authority on all of this. He estimates (below) that we have wasted $531 billion on national missile defense scams.

The money goes in; nothing comes out.
Moreover, since fiscal 1962, the US has spent more than $531 billion on multiple ineffective missile defense schemes—including Safeguard, which was operational for less than four months during 1975-76 and utilized nuclear-tipped interceptors to protect 150 Minuteman III ICBMs in North Dakota.

Man, my grandparents legitimately thought of fighting back fascism as their proudest achievement and their legacy to America and the world. USMC, USA, USO… They all volunteered to do something to help end that blight on the world. I am so glad that they did not live to see it come back here at home.
