Here's what the stream was for! I've opened up a Cameo account for anyone who'd like a little custom message for themselves or a friend. (*Don't order a message for your enemies, I'll turn it down.) www.cameo.com/nthurkettle
I thought when I joined SAG-AFTRA my days of doing weird, no-budget indie features was over, but thanks to the new microbudget agreement, another of them has found me. Booked it, y'all! Filming this weekend; still feeling out what I'm permitted to share but this one looks EXTRA weird.

Finished "The Space Pirates," which is a significant benchmark in running classic "Doctor Who" - the last broadcast serial with lost episodes. So no more animation or telesnap reconstructions, which could be a real trial to watch. There is "Shada" in the future, which is a category unto itself...

Attending a SAG workshop on auditioning for videogames. Nobody ever taught me. I've been...

Winging it.

Seen multiple people on the Interwebs saying that "Pinnec is the Lu Bu" in "Hyrule Warriors" and I'm afraid I have to flaunt my inexperience with "Dynasty Warriors" and ask for an explanation. Is it good to be the Lu Bu?

This affects you - the audience - more than you think.

Because there are no residual payments on videogames, many actors rely on convention appearances as a replacement income.

Because cons = $, cons have begun expecting talent to make it through YOU (no appearance fee).

You’ve been tip-cultured.
Ask literally any voice actor if they get royalties from the video games they worked on.

They will tell you no. They might even laugh.

Now imagine any developer actively trying to use AI VO to save money wanting to offer something like that.
Also, re: "they get royalties", how much money is that? Does it make up for the lack of continued work?

Paying next to nothing is still "getting paid royalties" but is functionally nothing.

We’re in another healthy round of discourse on AI voicing in games, and I saw an argument made that’s worth spotlighting - the idea that a developer may have an extremely last-minute tweak and corralling a studio, engineer, director, and actor on short notice may be impossible. Let’s poke at that 🧵

This year I've been lucky enough to audition for voice roles in new projects set in universes I love, but recently I auditioned for the first time for an existing show that I already watch and enjoy. That felt like a milestone worth celebrating.

This is a good starter pack of inspirations from movies and shows that I love for my performance as Pinnec in "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment." I love the stern-but-secretly-warm-hearted-veteran-warrior trope and it seems to suit my voice.

The Inspector General returns! I've had so much fun recording these lore drops for MapleStory - the contrast between the adorable pixel art and the SERIOUS DRAMA I'm always narrating makes us laugh in every session. Experience the GRAVITAS starting at 6:40: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybxs...

I would love to have listened in at the Hasbro meeting where they decided that the characters in the classic family board game Clue needed to look more horny.

Meanwhile, you have two chances to see me act LIVE AND IN-PERSON before 2025's over. "The Taming of the Shrew" comes to bars & breweries around Orange Co. later this month; and in Dec. I'll be back in Bedford Falls aka the Brea Curtis for my second go at "It's a Wonderful Life - a Live Radio Play."

Won't share the link since it would be slightly spoiler-y, but if you want a taste of my Pinnec performance, there are clips on YouTube of the sidequest that unlocks him as playable. It's called "The Unsung Spearman." I had tremendous fun with the combat efforts and taunts. Seek at your own risk...

Dental cleaning this morning and the dentist was satisfied with the state of things so naturally I am triggering a tooth hygiene BRUTALITY right after.

Thanks for making Launch Day of "Age of Imprisonment" such a joyous celebration! It's re-affirming to be back on a project of this scope. I'm excited to see if there are fans for Pinnec; his design is so fierce and I felt good about what we came up with vocally. Now it's in gamers' hands!

Here we go! I know this announcement has had some stutters; but I wanted to ensure I was respecting Nintendo's wishes for promotional efforts. So here's confirmation that my role in "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" is as the Rito Warrior Pinnec! #hyrulewarriors #ageofimprisonment

It will never stop getting under my skin when non-writers cannot grasp that "page count" is infinitely-mutable based on typeface, line spacing, & page size, while "word count" is an actual measurement. Cursed eternally to tell people something is _____ words and hear back "How many pages is that?"

Rewatched the last "Mission: Impossible" and it's hilarious how Esai Morales's Gabriel goes full sneering villain camp amidst the Messianic self-seriousness. There's a bit where he slams a gate with a smirk that reads: "Yes, your one weakness...METAL BARS! SEE YOU AGAIN, ETHAN HUNT!" (scurries away)
