@guws.bsky.social hosted a kriegspiel game today, and I am pleased to report my team (red) earned a marginal victory. The post-game discussion may have been about as long as the actual game, with the sides seeing the resulting narrative and picking apart why the game's outcome emerged as it did. 1/2

This weekend was the Ludum Dare 58 game jam and I created a hidden object game called "Hidden Secrets." You can play it here: lnkd.in/eufw9nbR #gamejam @ludumdare.com #gamedesign [1/7]

Last year, I made a #wargame for @sebastianbae.bsky.social Indopacific microgames kit, Ambush from the Depths. I have now made a digital version of that game with @godotengine.org. I discovered unanticipated difficulties in turning board games into computer games, but learned from the experience.1/3

Making a #gamejam game about biscuit making made me want biscuits, so I quickly made some, even though it endangered my game's schedule. Guess I... risked it for the biscuit. 😀 @brackeys.com

I made a game over last week for the @brackeys.com 2025.2 #gamejam. The theme was "Risk It for the Biscuit," so I made a 3D platformer where you play a Colonel Sanders character collecting biscuits while getting chased by angry chickens. I used @godotengine.org.

Not at all a fan of the theme for @brackeys.com game jam, but whatever, I'll make something. #gamejam #gamedev

For the #gmtk2025 #gamejam (theme: loop), I made a game where you drive a car around a track for as many laps as you can within the time limit. The problem is that the car is not very good and also crashes when you hit walls. And as you go around the track, the car gets more difficult to handle. IDA experienced a significant disruption, and as a result, a Summer Associate I planned to work with had to be transferred to a different project over mine. 1/4

Last night, my @georgetownssp.bsky.social graduate students ran their original educational wargames for defense & national security professionals. This was the culmination of 14 weeks of research, design, and development. Each game was designed for a specific sponsor and purpose. 🧵 1/

I'm discovering game jams are addicting. I like making small games quickly.

I limped over the finish line to submit to the #7drl game jam, just two weeks after another jam, also on @itch.io. Once again I made a submarine game. You pilot a submarine looking to reach a goal on the sea floor, but watch out for sea creatures and hostile subs! ntguardian.itch.io/deep-sea-rogue

America voted for Trump. I did not, but my country did. He was elected with the popular vote. Our abandonment of a troubled but reforming democracy fighting for freedom against a tyrant, is a collective shame, to add to our history of shameful acts. I do not blame Ukrainians for never forgiving us.

I submitted The King's Walk, a puzzle platformer-type game made with @godotengine.org, to @brackeys.com 2025.1 #BrackeysGameJam. Theme: "Nothing Can Go Wrong." The king must reach his destination according to his set path, and you place blocks to get him there. All code and art made be me in a week.

According to No Enemies Here we in the wargame community have lost Rodger B. MacGowan, an artist who produced game art for over 50 years, including the box art for most of my GMT games, including the iconic cover of Paths of Glory. This is a painful blow for all of us in the hobby. RIP.
