They repaired my turntable a couple of months ago, which has been awesome.

Not feeling particularly cheerful myself, but here's a picture of the Colorado River

I was in Spokane a couple weeks ago and was nearby a project that was mentioned on here. Of course I went to take a look. LGTM ✔️

I was at a thrift store today and found an unused high-quality mandoline for $15. Pretty neat. Scalloped potatoes for dinner, with the "All Blue" potatoes we got at the farmers market yesterday.

I got some new flags, most importantly this one. This is the flag that says You Will Regret What You Have Done.

It was years ago when I realized I'm kinda old.

Saw the new Star Wars movie and found myself sad about the destruction of ancient structures.

Watched a Marvel movie with an airport battle and objected, hey, people _built_ that, don't, no, you can't just wreck it.

I'm definitely behind the times.

Appreciations to www.homecakedecorating.com for having almond paste - I knew you would.

I think these came out alright.

New flag up. It's a pretty centrist flag, really, compared with a lot of others out there.

Toasting some croutons for a dinner salad. It just seems like the wok is the right tool for it -- but -- olive oil, is that allowed?

A little bit hi-brow/low-brow ingredients but it will get enough umami I think.

Yes, please. This one is not great.

There's a rich literature about failure in complex organizations. Serious people know this (or know about their limits of understanding). I ... just cannot believe we are letting such jokers anywhere near these systems.

I cleaned out a closet yesterday, and behind all the boxes and dust I found a cap I got at a conference once upon a time. And eight+ years ago I tossed it into the back of a closet in disappointment.

I guess I've found it in time to bury it again.

I have a flagpole in front of my house, and for a couple of years I've been flying various flags on it, changing them whenever I feel like it. This one is going to stay up for a good long time now.
