I do wonder how much of the crypto market is the playground of the oligarchs and those who have stolen funds from the poor people and hidden it in the crypto market.
There is a lot of leverage involved as well which leads to these big swings.

It could be used with ETFs but, as I found out it is too risky to use on individual stocks, especially small caps.
As you have observed many TF managers will all enjoy good times when trends emerge then suffer when directions change.

What percentage of market participants do you believe are systematic vs unsystematic?
If you had a trend following system and an anti-trend system would that be more resilient?
I used a system that was counter trend called AIM.
It was invented by Robert Lichello for use with mutual funds.

I remember thinking about termite mounds and wondering what determined their structure, was there a central design termite architect giving out orders on how high to build, get the air conditioning right.
