But there are others who are not only in pain because of inadequate relief. They are suffering in other ways.
Others would benefit from them being dead. Sometimes these others refuse to imagine them dead. But sometimes they give themselves permission.

There are people in severe pain, often (but not always) because of inadequate medical care. This matters. Voting in favour of assisted dying is not merely ableism: it is mixed with a good deal else.
