This is a comment on an allegedly non-violent protest of a university talk I'm giving tomorrow.

"Burn the speakers alive." That's hate. It's illegal. It's anti-intellectual. And it's core #Hindutva.

How liberalism has given rise to fascist states.
Liberalism arises historically with the bourgeoisie, promising universal rights, free markets, and political representation.

Plucked from obscurity to play for Lancashire and England, SF Barnes never behaved as professional cricketers were expected to at the time. But neither did he set the cricketing world alight, falling some way short of the potential that everyone saw in him. The result was a messy falling out.
“He might have made a great name for himself”: The Apparent Self-Destruction of S. F. Barnes
Sydney Barnes was plucked from obscurity by Archie MacLaren to play for Lancashire and England. However, he refused to behave in the way professional cricketers were expected to at the time. Nor did he set the cricketing world alight, falling some way short of the potential that everyone saw in him. The result was a messy falling out.

Well deserved draw for Elche. Betis had a few big chances, but Elche were the consistently better team.

Betis' chances were against the run of play, so to say.

Elche may well stay up and I'll be the first to celebrate it.

68 v 32 possession. Wow, thats a European team v a newly promoted team.

Aaand Elche instantly equalize lol. Right as I praise them. Great move.

Genuinely good football. They are ofc held back by the quality of the squad but even still showing they have the quality to stay up.

Promoted teams actually trying to play football like Epche actually make me happy.

Las Palma's was the last to do so I'd say. Fuck the Getafes of the world.

Victor Munoz at Osasuna will be exciting. He can singlehandedly improve their offensive transition scheme tenfold.
Has some great talent to play around with too. Osasuna has silently gone ahead and created a very solid squad.

Let's see how Lisci does next season. Personally I liked Vicente Moreno

Jonathon Viera AGAIN returns to Las Palmas. I love the guy, but cmon folks, don't you know how to say goodbye!?!?

Stint 5 in the senior team lol. (One of the most underrated Spanish players of his era)

Had he not gone to China he'd have a much bigger legacy.

The miserable fools at the ECB have decided that Amanda-Jade Wellington is no longer allowed her camera on Somerset matchdays, meaning she can no longer create her wonderful matchday vlogs

Jack Hobbs record. So everyone just went in to bat back then I guess. But its interesting how his record is better fielding first. Is there some historical trend here that I know not of?

Maybe a question too specific but I did wonder after reading the great book 'the art of batting' by @jarrodkimber.bsky.social who was the player (barring Bradman) to have the median score that was highest above the average amongst the players from matches he played in?

Brennan Johnson is the first man to score for Tottenham in a final since Jonathan Woodgate in 2008. 1-0 up.

Early impressions
- manic energy
- both goalkeepers looking vulnerable
- United's back three quite composed amid chaos
- Porro's deliveries a real threat
- Amad changing momentum of play in seconds

The 4 most carded teams in the top 5 leagues are Spanish relegation contenders. Quite predictable, but interesting nonetheless

Random cricket thing I find fascinating is how two laws for the limited over formats follow what would be tactics in test cricket
1. 2 men out in the powerplay
2. Having 5 bowlers by restricting bowlers to 10 overs a game

I wonder if there is any other law that is just the formalisation of a tactic

So happy Ben Curran got his first international century. Hope he can be a key figure to help Zimbabwe figure out their batting post Ervine, Sean Williams and Raza.

And it came against a decent bowling lineup.
