The study from Cambridge University Press that is referenced is attached here: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

It's not a bad apple. It's not a bad barrel. It's the soil. The entire culture of policing needs a soil reclamation process. Governamce will be credible when actions are different. 8/8

“Sexual assault is the second most common offence for which police officers are prosecuted, according to a 2021 Canadian study published by Cambridge University Press. When police officers commit crimes, they are most likely to do so while on duty, the study also found. 6/

When a police officer files a complaint of harassment, the union has to act on behalf of their member. So what happens when both parties are members? In my experience, the union stands firmly behind the officer accused of assault or harassment and leaves the alleged victim out there on their own. 2/

1. Charles is 100% correct.

2. Quote: "Reached by phone Tuesday, police association president Andrew Tummonds declined to comment.

“We’re still dealing with our lawyers to see where we’re gonna go,” Tummonds said."

Explanation -- This kind of situation leaves the police union in a 'pickle'. 1/
This is a story you could write from a fill-in-the blanks template in nearly every police service and the RCMP in Canada, right down to the police commission saying they have taken steps to address it. They never do anything. It's been like this for decades.

Seems like @aaron.bsky.team et al should be able to give Sarah an answer since they explicitly say in the TOS what circumstances allow them to suspend someone:

You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

It’s predatory lending.

Trump saying “the only thing that happens is a lower payment” is exactly what the lenders say.

Your total cost of borrowing goes up.

The interest goes up.

That house costs WAY more in the long run.

You’re barely touching the principle for first decade
Communicating why a 50 year mortgage costs more, overall, than a 30 year mortgage should not be a hard task.

The problem is the average American is both functionally illiterate and innumerate, as a deliberate result of decades of the policies made by the very people pushing for 50 year mortgages.

hm sounds like it’s time for some journalists to make some requests because I for one would like more information on Sarah Kendzior’s suspension.
We usually do that in response to media requests once they hit that threshold. I’ll try not to weigh in here, since that’s still details of an individual case. An interesting topic for a separate write up though, without discussing case specifics.

Edgar Wright's THE RUNNING MAN, released by Paramount, is about why monopolistic corporations, like Paramount, which manipulate the news to support a conservative agenda, like Paramount, are so evil they should be taken down by force.

So support the message by... giving Paramount money?

I am utterly unsurprised that churches are saying no to a starving baby and the plugs are immediately saying yes. This tracks perfectly with my experience.
