You’re in a class war. The wealth and oligarchical classes are hellbent on cementing total control over the government, economy, and culture. It’s a process that’s been going on for forever and is now speeding up.

Politicians won’t save us. The media won’t save us. It’s up to us to save ourselves.

Once upon a time US tax brackets topped out at 77% for $1 million or more in annual income. Now it’s 37%?
Imagine that—the simple justice of recognizing that great wealth distorts a democracy & that we all rise when our nation can fully educate & meet the basic needs of every American, young & old.

me; an escape hatch at the end of hard days. And it all coalesced to this new collection, which is fantastic. You Like It Darker has some of the best stories since Nightmares & Dreamscapes (1993)…

So, I read them all. 5 collections, 113 stories, and more than two thousand pages. All in time for King’s latest collection, You Like It Darker, released earlier this month.

By the time I got to “I Am the Doorway” I was hooked, and when I finished it — despite drowning in work from my final year of grad school, all at what feels like a very late age — I was thirsty for more.

Earlier this year, perhaps subconsciously thinking of all the time I spent inspecting my dad’s scary books during my formative years, I picked up Night Shift (1978), King’s 1st collection. I’d read plenty of his novels (and some novellas) but never his short stories.
