Back in December, I self-published my first book with little to no promotion — aside from a single social media post, a blog post, and a measly paragraph in a newsletter sent a week after the book’s release date...

What I learned from self-publishing a Christmas novella with little promotion
As you can pretty much guess, the numbers weren’t so great

“Does this feel real?” I said as I slipped an em dash into my WIP.

“Yes!” my WIP gasped when I added another. “Give me another—for emphasis.”

I gripped my em dash and notched it between my WIP’s puffy sentences and then—ever so slowly, ever so gently—I fed my em dash deep.

Kraven the Hunter might have been a certified box office bomb, but hear me out... Aaron Taylor-Johnson is so freaking hot in it that without knowing a single thing about the actual comic book character, I'm tempted to write a fanfic...and that's after watching him bang a corpse in Nosferatu.

Do you ever watch a movie set in New York, and then there's a drone shot of the Twin Towers, and you immediately go, "Ha! You know this is an old movie!" or am I just weird? 😂

I'm convinced the buffalo on the Masked Singer are Michael Jackson's nephews, 3T. I could be totally off, but I just feel it in my gut.

Another holiday #film that is a must-watch for me every holiday season.

Last Holiday is an underrated masterpiece of Christmas cinema, in my unsolicited, non-film critic opinion.

Last Voyage of the Demeter is actually a pretty good movie. In fact, all of Universal's recent attempts to revive their classic monsters have been good. It's a shame they flopped at the box office. And yes, I know it's Christmas season, but horror movies are year-round in this house.

Recently watched a video about how Courage the Cowardly Dog traumatized an entire generation even though we still love it, and you know what... I never considered that Courage was the reason I became obsessed with horror, but I think they're right!

Don't mind me. I'm just a #writer who occasionally forgets she knows words and is currently Googling every other word in her #WIP to make sure she's using them correctly.

Do you have any weird Christmas traditions? For me, Christmas doesn't start until I watch Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer.

No pressure here. Just your average introvert writer trying to figure out what her first post on Blue Sky should be, so being in her FMC era, of course she goes for the totally cringy, quirky, socially awkward, self-aware post that she thinks is cute but might delete later...
