One of the biggest consequences of LLMs like ChatGPT on online conversation is that people assume ANY well-written response was created by an LLM.

Sadly, the people making these accusations are often the ones who would most benefit from LLM assistance in their writing. #SkyAI

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese food most common in the Hiroshima area. When I first saw it, I said, “this looks like what someone would fry up when all they had was random ingredients: eggs, ramen, chives… whatever!”

TIL that “okonomi” means “whatever you want” and “yaki” means “pan fried.” I WAS RIGHT!

Things I’m grateful for and that brought me joy today.

1. Listening to headphones with my mom, and my wife excitedly walking her through it!
2. Playing board games with my family
3. Both the Broncos and Bucs winning
4. Replaying Shadow of the Colossus

Pulling double duty tonight.

Shadow of the Colossus plus some random game I guess. But mostly SotC.

AI music is here. How will it transform the industry? Here’s an interesting take from Rick Beato, a person in the industry:

Introduced my parents to a few anime. Now my mom wants a Crunchyroll subscription.

Black Friday (Black Week?) special. Picked up the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S3 (Indigo Blue).

My goodness, this is a good headphone. A VERY good headphone.

Debating on picking up the Px8 S2.

The Bucs are playing like absolute garbage now. I haven’t seen a game this bad in a long time.

Todd Bowles has to go.

What is your favorite ebook reader font?

Been rocking Merriweather for a while now (on Kindle and Kobo). But would love to know what you enjoy.

(Side note: I have a physical book that used Merriweather as its primary font. That didn’t work as well. E-Ink only.)

Fanning a flame out of spite still makes the flame grow. Want the fire to die out? Starve it of oxygen. Do the same with shitty people - deprive them of the attention they so desperately crave.
Every time you hate read an article you justify its writing. It really is that simple
don't reskeet book excerpts from terrible people, even to dunk on them or to hate-read.

You give prestige magazines clicks, and you encourage them to do this crap more.

Encourage terrible people to go to What Ever Happened To?? land

“The danger is not that the machine will replace you. The danger is that you will start acting like the machine.” Jean Luc Mélenchon in regards to AI use.

Just like spending time in front of social media has hijacked our brains, spending in time in front of AI will also make us worse thinkers.

This is just pics of #books I’m interested in. That’s literally it.

Hojoki I actually finished in the store. May revisit.

Byung Chul Han (Hope) has been fascinating (esp. Burnout Society).

Haikus are my fav. poetry type, bios my fav non fiction.

And decisions vs values… I think about this daily.

If you’re not following The First Take on #YouTube, you should be, especially if you’re a fan of #JapaneseMusic. The schtick here is that they bring in (primarily Japanese) artists & have them record a full song on their first take. Amazing #music, go watch. #MusicMonday

The MacBook Air M1 remains a perfect little writing machine. But at 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD, it’s starting to struggle under the pressure of managing a YouTube channel. (Forget video editing, I’m talking about just getting analytics from the YouTube Stufio backend is stressing it out.)

Might be time…

Unpopular opinion: people who oppose AI (as defined in contemporary parlance) are much like people who opposed nuclear power. Yes, there is risk, and yes, companies have not been great about how to train it, but to oppose it in its entirety is to throw out the baby with the bath water. #AI #AISky

Sometimes, I’m asked to review products which, while interesting, have zero relevance to what I like to talk about in my channel. I’ve made exceptions in the past, but these days, I know videos like this tank, and I’d hate to waste their money.

Audeze is having their B-stock sale. I’m THIS CLOSE to plunking down $3300 for a pair of LCD-5’s. I’d have to sell some stuff, but… anyone in the market for a lightly used Meze Empyrean 2? #headphones #audiophile
