found out justnow there's a dark+ mode in the settings. imo it looks much neater. for those interested its easy to find: just go to settings and then appearance

LITERALLY SAME ive been complaining about it so much to my friends... tho for now its been getting better but it sure took a while and a lot of "show less of this" button clicks
