Took a trip with my in-laws today. Found the nopalitos that like to adorn the Latin American cemetery and encountered some woodpeckers in a nearby pecan tree.

Alebrijes by Donna Barba Higuera. It's the second book of The Last Cuentista. Alebrijes is written 400 years after the Earth has been laid to waste. The story centers on a brother and sister who are the last of the humans & descendants of farmworkers.
