“The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.” - HAL 9000
I didn’t say, nor do I think, any of that. The US is not your ex-husband. But it looks like we’ll probably be able to take care of this ourselves. Call us if you need us.

Oh please!!!! You’ve done pretty well for yourselves under our tyrannical thumb. You’re Ukraine, I’ll retire to Bedlam.

No, again, I probably would have agreed with you a few weeks ago, but it looks like the fascists just aren’t very smart. They’re pretty good at conning their way into power, they just aren’t very good at keeping it. They ACTUALLY believe they can keep it with thoughts and prayers.

No, you just need to look at history. This isn’t a lover’s quarrel, this is global politics and the loser dies. You might want to ask Ukraine if they see a difference in the parties. China and Russia aren’t your friends.

I just heard a quote on a TV show that I think is really interesting: “The world forgives us when they need us.” There will come a time, sooner than you think, when Trump will be considered a blip. We’re going to have to go through hell until then, but I think we’ll survive.

Yes, but I’ve also been reading of plans for a post Trump America. Things will be different, and there’s a chance that could be a good thing.

Really, this is because you got your feelings hurt?
November 13, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Trump. I was replying to LucyMac’s comment about Trump.

A few weeks ago I might have agreed with you. But at this point, the only thing about to collapse is MAGA.
November 13, 2025 at 8:39 PM
No, I!m arguing that WE are still better off in that relationship.
November 13, 2025 at 8:29 PM
That’s just silly. Can’t blame him for everything. The Brexit referendum happened before the 2016 US election. They’re all symptoms of the same root causes. Climate change, immigration, economic dislocation because of tech and Rus/China disinformation campaigns. We’re better off sticking together.
November 13, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Really, do you really believe that only the US has ever elected bad, right wing, leaders? You might want to try taking a look at recent European history.
November 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM
It will all depend on how smart and how good of a salesperson the next president is. Luckily for us, Trump is too old and weak to do as much damage as he could have done. It was a cult of personality, and that cult is already fracturing.
November 13, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Well, he’s already speaking with a few of the potential Democratic candidates now. So it looks like he’s keeping his options open.
November 13, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Well, Trump won’t always be here, and if you look at the polls, and the last election, he should be pretty well neutered by this time next year. Also, the next administration may have a president that you’ll want to deal with. Your government is already talking to a few of the potential candidates.
November 13, 2025 at 5:43 PM
We are, but it’s not realistic to think that what happens here won’t have an impact on you.

Defending yourself is not an immoral act.

What do you think it would take to welcome the US back into the fold once Trump is out of office? Which of the current crop of potential candidates would Canada be most willing to work with?

I’ll still be going to CostCo.
