Sesame Street is why I can speak English. After my mom and I arrived to America in the early 90s, she used the show as a guide so I could hear and see spoken English. I'm from Guatemala, and my Spanish was limited as a tiny kid- I learned english fast. Teaching literacy early on in life matters.

Extremely smart of Netflix. Whatever Sesame Street costs, it's almost certainly a fraction of their usual production costs for series, there's probably some sort of tax break in there, and the goodwill Netflix just earned is a publicity multiplier.
