Make Peace,
Be Kind,
Be gentle.
The Dhamma doesn't tell you what is okay or not okay to feel.
It tells you that feelings arise. That they are impermanent. It tells you to pay attention to them, and that to understand their nature leads to peace.

I have yet to see something that says "Don't feel this" or "Don't feel that".

Morning Meditation: Followers of Buddha are always poor. Poverty is of the body, not of the Buddha mind or the Way!

With certainty, the Dhamma being the anchor point of our life we head towards more peace.
I often ask myself what is the most important physical job to have, and it wavers.
Sometimes it's urban planning, other times it's ending homelessness, sometimes it's make youtube videos and art.

It's good to try to help the world. It's good to try to protect the environment and work to make nice buildings.

It's important though, to not see the thing we're trying to fix as being the source of our suffering.

If I am looking at something exterior, feeling upset and blaming it for my sorrow..

Everything we do for personal gain we're also doing for personal loss. Because whatever we gain we will be separated from.

We don't have to change the world in order to have a positive effect on it.

This might not be the best analogy.

But maybe insight can be like flashes of lightning or shooting stars. You have to be looking to see them.

With insight, you need to be mindful. If you're not being mindful, you don't see. You miss the opportunity to see. Mindfulness is that opportunity.

It’s good to make the mind pure and at peace, but it’s hard. You have to start with the externals—your bodily actions and words—and work your way in.

What we perceive as coldness is really just the body letting us know that heat is leaving the body.

The quality of "cold" doesn't actually exist in anything internal or external. It's a process, a verb.

There is no "cold" essence.

How beautiful it is that we have a practice that can help free us from suffering.

Desire is an unpleasant feeling. But it also is impermanent, it comes in waves. It's not always there.

To me, this gives me a sense of hope. It means we're not stuck desiring forever.

It is a habit, it seems.

May you be well. May you be at ease. May you have clarity of mind. May you know that this too will pass. That the teaching is always with us. The path is always here to meet us.
Everything is teaching us.

We can use the suttas to recalibrate our behavior and outlook.
Is our behavior matching the behavior taught in the suttas? if not we adjust it so that it is.
It helps to keep go back to the suttas, to have that recalibration. It orients us in the right direction.
