Digging through some old photos and found a pic of the little fella I made friends with once on a trail run.

Recreated an ancient Greek dinner. 🍽️

Lamb roast marinaded in milk, honey, and oregano, then roasted with a salt, pepper, garlic, oregano and rosemary. Served with a wine, honey, and date sauce.

Bread, olive oil and herb dip, garlic cheese, olives, pomegranates, grapes, and dates.

This is interesting when thinking of the role of testosterone as competition/power-seeking hormone. It drives people to strive. It falls when people feel they can't win.

Think of the psychological effects on millions of men during the Great Recession.

This is good because I don't want to abandon recreating this look.

Dug up some old pictures I took in 2005(?) of the woods behind my house where I used to go hiking as a little kid. Wish I had them in a higher resolution!

No wonder I gravitated to Tolkien and Zelda. I had long experience with the magic of the deep woods.

When you consider the connection between 2010s leftism and puritan culture it gets really interesting.

Was always expecting a backlash/pendulum swing against 2010s left-wing culture, but what's more unexpected to me is that we might be seeing the return of Muscular Christianity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscula...

Maybe we've over techified schools. Learning required concentration over time, and most tech in schools (similar to our phones) are distraction generators.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Something changed from the 19th and early 20th century and it's leaving us, and the thinking class impoverished. What happened? Has anyone written about this and investigated?
