I knew things were tough but these new IKEA displays are positively BLEAK.

Comic books have the best wish fulfillment fantasies.

Imagine if our universe was actually about to be destroyed by our greatest villain as opposed to making us live through all their bullshit?
A page that is showing up in all of the DC Comics tied into the current DC K.O. Event that has the text: DARKSEID IS COMING, AND THIS UNIVERSE WILL BE DESTROYED. The only hope for survival is to forge a champion in. the fires of combat. A tournament is now held to capture the Heart of Apokolips and become the King Omega... : a champion powerful enough to match Darkseid and save reality. The heroes and villains of the DC Universe must now look within and ask.... "What am I willing to do TO SAVE. EVERYTHING?". The text is blue along with the classic DC Comics logo and the stylized K.O. Logo over a starfield. At the bottom of the page are photo realistic flames lapping at the K.O. Logo.

Notes App Text Screenshot 1 of 2: At 6am on the 28th of August I woke from sleep crying from a half dream, stirred knowing that there was one thing stronger than the chaos that was gripping the nation now. That was the dream that had called to Dr. King. The dream that had called to President Kennedy. To Abraham Lincoln. To George Washington. To my great-great-many times removed grandfather John Winthrop. The dream, always promised and never fulfilled called America. We've never really seen America. We've only been promised America. And I awoke crying, and promising my great-great- that I wouldn't let the dream die. Crying and saying "this is so weird." I'm writing this down now and it's still so weird. Like some kind of visitation or a late summer fever. And maybe it is. A late summer fever called fascism. But it's 6:08 in the morning and I'm weeping in bed and the only thing that settles my heart is the thought of the America that every little kid knows is supposed to be. The one that broke the heart of so many by not being there when they grew up. It's why so many of are angry and hopeless. Why so many people fall for the hollow charms of conmen and hucksters. That dream. That beautiful dream that we hear resonating in the words of Dr. King. In the heart of every immigrant who ever braved the elements to come here at all cost. We can't let those who dream only of darkness end that dream for this earth. It's such a weird thing to wake up to. An even weirder thing to go and share. But here it is. We can't let it die. We just can't.
