Last up today and one of the most exciting things on our radar...

Our friends over at the #AnimationObsessive Substack (subscribe!) have broke the news about our work on what was essentially a lost film for a VERY long time, #RoyFromSpace (1983)!

AOC: "It is unconscionable that what we are debating right now is legislation that will give 8 senators over $1 million a piece & we're robbing people of their food assistance & healthcare to pay for it. How can we vote to enrich ourselves by stealing from the American people?"

i love this quote and earnestly think it is one of the most beautiful and resonant things ever said about why we make art as people and what it means to live and share.

and also, i think of it every time i instead of that choose to watch 15 youtube videos in a row

All the times I’ve been able to come back to the Bunny Drop anime over the years, and how every time it succeeds in dissolving the stress of adulthood with warmth and a smile, reiterates why its been one of my go-to comforts in life.

Also the reason I will never ever read the manga & spoil all that

“Anime” is an outdated marketing term that encompasses everything from government propaganda from the 40s to cheap flash web comedies. Continuing to use this term trivializes the scope of animation from around the globe.
Friends, #weebwednesday is upon us once again! You know the drill - quote-post with your weebiest hot takes, nothing racist, nothing intentionally inflammatory, have fun with it ♥

Anime hot take:

Nyoron! Churuya-san is the better spinoff than Haruhi-chan. At least Nyoron got a chuckle out of me with how stupid it is.

After the week we’ve had in the house, a splurge at the local Static Tape used video store feels completely justified. And this was actually restrained, there were a lot more Lupin OVAs and Ranma sets I could have gone for.

Just glad WB still remembers the Famous Studios Popeye & Thundercats 2011.

The folks who get righteously angry at the mere notion of enjoying Hamilton are *so* much more irritating than any fan has ever been.

No, enjoying the Broadway version of an extended Schoolhouse Rock segment doesn't make you a slavery apologist, that would be fucking asinine. It's a musical.
are we allowed to talk about how Hamilton is good again yet or is that still, like, off limits

“You will lose your job to AI” is just a scare tactic to both legitimize this as a normal thing for companies to do, and get you to feel obligated to learn how to use AI thus justifying its existence.

The bubble is gonna pop hard, don’t let it make your life miserable in the meantime.
so many companies say they are replacing people - laying them off - with automated systems, AI. but there has been no real auditing or regulatory approach to vetting such claims. i am deeply skeptical. think a lotta the cuts are just due to failures to sell or cut costs & prior over hiring.

In the '70s, Hayao Miyazaki tried to revive the cartoons of his youth. And he kept mentioning Fleischer's Mr. Bug Goes to Town.

He loved its animation and use of "space," and the physical way its characters navigate its world. We look into the story:
