Both forms of Ceefax are up at the moment. Let's see how long that lasts.

I have designed some SDI receivers to continue my Interference With Video Via FPGA.

Turns out anything involving SDI is annoyingly Expensive, but anyway...

Another massive "cloud" (someone else's PC) outage. Ceefax still unaffected. Why aren't YOU self-hosting things yet?

Apparently JLCPCB send you the X-Rays of PCBs assembled with BGA chips. Rather cool. You can see the innards of the chip if you look closely. Please ignore how much my PCB designery sucks.

"other clocks are, of course, available" 😃
Hey stop trying to poach viewers from my clock! 😂

If you're still up, why not watch the sheer wonder of the Ceefax clock ticking over to 2am twice in one night?

A few weeks ago @nmsni.co.uk asked "when can we have clocks on the viewer? 🤣" and it's been nagging away at me since...

Lots of annoying timezone issues and customisation feature creep later... zxnet.co.uk/teletext/vie...

Heavily inspired by the SVG recreations on @aswiseman.bsky.social's site!

I've wanted to learn about FPGAs for quite a while - here is a selection of silly experiments done to live* video in an FPGA.

Coming up with lots of daft ideas to build with it and gradually getting a vague idea of how this stuff works.

In all seriousness, this sort of thing is why I self-host - I hate having to rely on someone else for a service I can do myself - and this way I only rely on my ISP, electric crowd, and my old server... 😅
Ceefax remains unaffected.

Trying and failing again to think of a use for all the teletext databroadcast code I wrote for vbit2.

As @nmsni.co.uk aptly put it earlier "Still trying to find a problem for our solution" 😆

Have got a terrific ornament for beside my desk. This is the mimic panel for part of the old BBC Radio distribution system, NICAM-3.

Yup, NICAM, the same thing later used to send digital stereo audio alongside analogue TV.

I've just wired it to light up permanently & look cool.

Next time you hear an audiophile talk about their gold plated cables & 192kHz DACs, remember this is the sort of thing actual radio studios run on:

People sometimes ask about Ceefax stats:

- The current instance of the PFC stream has had 42,400 views in its 248 day runtime - or around 170 per day

- About 130 people per day read Ceefax via the interactive viewer

- Around 20 people use Ceefax on a Raspberry Pi (via feeds.nmsni.co.uk) every day

C4's Presfax has been unearthed!
Feeling at a loose end now that #ChunkyFringe is done and all the TVs are packed way until the next event, so I went picking at an old scab, and figured out how to process a hidden internal channel 4 teletext service called IDENT from a file that's been lurking on my hard drive since 2021 👀

WEBSITE UPDATE: On this day in 1997, the balloon idents launched, on which the BBC showed off its new corporate logo. To celebrate, here's the balloon-era clock from Northern Ireland re-created. Thanks to @nmsni.co.uk for the background image. 625.uk.com/tv_logos/svg...
