Just to celebrate some good news - we got wonderful new & modern orgo labs, built for small labs with close interactions with instructors, generous hoods; this is one of several. #BucknellChemistry

wearing more hats, so posting less, but let's try to fix that; first, local folks here's the annual chem halloween show, see some science on a bigger scale. All ages. #BucknellChem

I continue to explore and like typst for technical writing, so I offer this simple header snippet that I put together (I'm sure there are better ways) for your enjoyment; see if you can figure out what it does.... #twospacesarebetterthanone

Thought I’d share a hobby project, we are hoping the neighborhood owls deem this to be the most sincere option to nest. Will update if anything happens. #owlbox

Bummed holidays are over? One last holiday spectrum then, the humble cranberry packed with antioxidants (acetonitrile extract). Students compared seeds to flesh; time short, so didn't wash the seeds so some of the juice came along for the ride like the sugars. #NMRchat #Bucknell #BucknellChem

Our students got caught up in more holiday NMR (on the lobby screen for any of you locals); so to extend your holiday season, NMR of a candy cane (dissolved and extracted). Oner more to come and shout out to @uottawanmr.bsky.social who inspired this. #NMRchat #HolidayNMR #BucknellChem

Happy holidays from our lab to yours! Snow from first (light) dusting last week (just added D2O); microbial bckgrd since snow was on ground a long time; methanol fun surprise, cool in hindsight. Big mystery peaks we should know but don't... YES this IS on the family Xmas card. #NMRChat #NMR

have wanted to do this for a while, in case you're looking for suggestions for what to do with old dessicators...

I'm a thermo nerd...and 2024 is the 200th anniversary of Sadi Carnot's self published book, Reflections on the Motive Power of Fire (trans); (image: wikipedia), in June when I meant to post...combining rigor and creative ideas, this profoundly influential work is still shrouded in mystery

for now, the AI image generators I've tried so far don't know anything about NMR spectrometers, for example the "in space" trope of image generation (an NMR spectrometer in space with mars in the background) produces this:

playing with AI, so courtesy of AI: how we should all admire a well-prepared sample before heading down to the NMR room #steampunkNMR In fairness brass is fine with magnets...
