I fully agree with you. In addition, the govt. who funds ICE should compensate every single victim or their families should they die in captivity. Unlike the ex-slaves from the 19th century most of these victims will be alive and well in 3 yrs & definitely deserve compensation.

Doing away with govt. jobs on a large-scale slash and burn was bound to have an effect on the economy. We are seeing it happen in real-time now as businesses besides the govt. close up.

Throughout history there have been poor people who wanted money & fame. Such examples have been George Santos, Anna Delvey, Clark Rockefeller, Joan of Arc and Perkin Warbeck to name a few. Those few met prison terms or horrific ends to their lives. Trying to be gentry never worked out well.

It is greed & fear because Trump has properties in NYC & is afraid Mandani will tax them & force his sons to lower the rent costs on them. Also, Mandani might know something or hinted that he knew something about Trump that Trump does not want released.

Or like George Santos will lie & turn to a life of crime to get that money. He is poor so had the desire for money & did some white-collar crime. Had a UBI & National Healthcare existed in the USA it is doubtful he would have done what he did.

Remember George Santos? He wanted a secure income & free medical care, so he went into Congress for those things. The desire for a basic income among most people is not an oddity. Maybe if that was offered to everyone people would go into Congress as a means to serve others & not themselves.

Also, if it was unconditional, it would be going to both males & females regardless of their parent's service in the military or their marital status. It is actually a sexist & classist govt. giveaway. It goes to ex-military brats who happen to be single & female.

I'd pay off my credit card and mortgage debts using that basic income check. I'd say the UBI would lower peoples' debts. That would have a positive impact on society & there would be less depression & happier people.
