Members of our Manhattan, Newark, and Brooklyn locals are distributing flyers today at NYU’s Conference on Labor & Employment Law, where Acting General Counsel Cowen is speaking on “The Future of the NLRA.”

The future of labor law is our Agency and our members. Save the NLRB.

OMB THREATENS LAYOFFS AT THE NLRB

According to Bloomberg, OMB has directed the NLRB to “think creatively” about how to reduce staff, despite President Trump’s appointed leaders of the agency agreeing that ANY job losses would devastate our ability to enforce federal law.

Good on these lawmakers for highlighting the disastrous consequences that cuts to the NLRB’s staffing would have on our country’s workers.

With our agency already stretched so thin, DOGE must understand that we have nothing left to cut.

The NLRB’s Buffalo office is literally feet away from @schumer.senate.gov’s Buffalo office, by the way.

This unjustifiable eviction of dedicated civil servants will only waste appropriated federal resources and harm the workers we represent. It must be reversed immediately.

Enjoy some pictures of dedicated civil servants in the field offices of the NLRB—the only agency in the country that is responsible for enforcing federal labor law covering the entire private sector—asking you to help Save Our Services:

Today, February 19, 2025, is the Save Our Services day of action for federal employees and their unions.

We are coming together to say ‘NO’ to Elon Musk's push to gut federal services and impose unlawful mass layoffs of hard-working civil servants across the federal government.

Folks, we don’t know how to make this more clear. The offer is legally dubious, ever-changing, and filled with countless loopholes which only benefit OPM. If it wasn’t obvious before, the scam became reality last night.

Don’t waste your time, OPM. We will not resign.

Despite the extreme pressure this administration is bringing to bear, we remain steadfastly opposed to the “fork” scam.

In solidarity with one another, and with the people we serve, we will hold the line. We will not resign.

Yes, we received the second “fork” email from OPM. Our response remains the same:

We will continue to do what we can to enforce federal labor law for the millions of private-sector workers who fall under the National Labor Relations Act’s protections, even with our ongoing understaffing and underfunding crises.

In the meantime, we have a message for OPM:

We were honored to host @Andy_Levin this weekend as the keynote speaker of the NLRBU’s 2023 Convention in Seattle. We stand in solidarity with Andy, who understands the vital work and mission of our agency’s field staff in protecting the collective rights of workers nationwide.

🚨🚨🚨

After nine long years, our national nightmare is over: a $25 million budget increase for the National Labor Relations Board has been included in the omnibus bill.

If passed by both chambers, the funding Armageddon we warned of has been avoided—for at least this year.

The last year the NLRB had less than 730 professional staff in the regional offices was 1962. In that year:

▪️The median house price was $19,500
▪️The first James Bond film hit theaters
▪️“The Twist” was still on Top 40 lists
▪️John F. Kennedy was President
