Watching Oppenheimer today so wanted to share a cool fact about how my work is connected to it. The original proposal to discover neutrinos involved setting off a nuclear bomb near a tank of liquid detecting those particles, which would then be dropped ~100 ft down a shaft onto a feather bed.

double feature lined up today. having a cinema (TM) moment 🧠

continuing the early-period Nolan/nuclear themed double feature before Oppenheimer. maybe not the most famous Kurosawa? but looks absolutely incredible

My favorite Nolan and probably his best crafted one. This and Hugo are the ones I go back to when thinking about the nature of movies themselves

Very funny that the current Barbie/Oppenheimer split at barbenheimer.com is almost a viable electoral map

Back to Nolan for Oppenheimer prep I guess. Don't think I've seen a movie as intimately connected to its landscape as Insomnia. Must have seen this like 10 times, still looks gorgeous 📽️

Another Oppenheimer prep movie. About a cover-up of a reactor meltdown reflecting the general skepticism for all things nuclear under Carter. Released 12 days before Three Mile Island too wth! Maybe the real lesson is profit and safety don't mix very well but that's not how it shook out 📽️

Doing a noir/early-period Nolan rewatch in preparation for Oppenheimer. First Nolan movie I ever watched (and for me coloured everything else of his since) - just pure movie magic 📽️
