I’m grateful to be named to The Root 100 list of 2025 for helping lead the Target Boycott.

This honor belongs to the people who stood up when Target turned their backs on us.

We warned them: turn your back on our communities, and we’ll turn up the pressure. And we have. 1/2

Democrats need a vision that centers the people. It’s why @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is going to be the next mayor of New York City.

Any leader in the Democratic Party standing in the way of progress needs to go.

I am extremely proud to support my good friend Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, Vice Mayor of Cincinnati, for re-election on Nov. 4th.

We’re STILL not shopping at Target. #BoycottTarget

The world lost a giant.

D’Angelo was more than a musician, he was a vessel of soul, a conjurer of feeling, a truth-teller in melody and rhythm. He bared his soul with every note and we felt it.

"Part of being a revolutionary is creating a vision that is more humane. That is more fun, too. That is more loving. It's really working to create something beautiful."

Thirteen unhoused people were hurt in Minneapolis.

And America shrugs.

These folks are not invisible. Not disposable. Not less human.

The relative silence on this tragedy is a moral failure.

Demartravion "Trey" Reed, a 21-year-old Delta State University student, was found hanging from a tree on campus yesterday in Mississippi.

There must be a full and thorough investigation into his death.

Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson & Cynthia Morris Wesley.

62 years ago today, these four girls were killed by white supremacist hatred in the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing.

We must remain steadfast in our collective fight against anti-Blackness and hate in every form.

We’re still not shopping at Target 🤷🏾‍♀️

Larry Ellison is worth roughly $400 billion.

Elon Musk is worth roughly $385 billion.

Meanwhile, the minimum wage is still $7.25/hour, 86% of Americans stress over grocery prices, and most are living paycheck to paycheck.

Yes.

Both have/had good tweets.
Both support genocide.

Fetterman says he supports universal healthcare, Newsom vetoed it in CA.

Newsom went to homeless camps and threw people’s belongings away.

Or—stay with me—I’m a historian and former legislator who knows to look 5 steps ahead and identify unintended consequences, someone with a track record of defeating the GOP through asymmetrical means. For YEARS.

We’re still boycotting Target.

As Trump unleashes the national guard on DC, it’s important to note that President Biden had similar views.

Democrats cannot adequately oppose the Republican Party until they themselves get rid of the corporate-backed politicians within the party.

I’ve been watching the back and forth between Republicans and Democrats regarding partisan gerrymandering and as a former Black history professor, I had to my thoughts into words.

Republicans are dead wrong in Texas and Democrats are wrong to try and do the same in return.
August 10, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Republicans are taking a page out of the Democrats’ playbook: telling the American people the economy is good while Americans struggle to afford the basics.

I called out Democrats at the time, now I’m calling out Republicans.

People are STRESSED about the cost of things.
August 7, 2025 at 10:03 PM
No, President Trump should not use the federal government to take over Washington DC.

First, crime in DC is down.

But let’s take a step back, are conservatives saying that the federal government can be a solution?

If so, let’s start with Medicare for all.

I went on Newsmax to talk about those who say Zohran Mamdani’s economic vision is too extreme.

Here’s the truth: the vast majority of Americans are stressed over things like the price of groceries.

People can’t eat a tax break for billionaires in Manhattan penthouses.

86% of Americans are stressed about grocery prices.

76% of Americans are stressed about their wages.

75% of Americans are stressed about the cost of housing.

This is NOT “America First.”

This means that if a city or state decides to boycott investments in Israel, if its citizens are suffering from a disaster, the federal government will not provide FEMA funds to those cities.

Completely unacceptable.
