A few weeks ago Julia Klöckner, high up in the CDU and a disastrous Education Secretary a few years back, posted this on her Insta:
"For what you want, you don't have to vote AfD. There is a democratic alternative."
They are testing the waters. As yet, the water is too hot. But watch them.

No, it isn't. If only. Support for the AfD in many West German constituencies is also anywhere between 8 and 23%. It's just that in West Germany, that's not enough to get your man or woman into parliament.

I was thinking of Thatcher more than Wilson.
I think "no evidence" isn't quite right. Yes, the lower-middle classes who fear for their privileges and income also voted for the AfD (as did people from most income brackets). But:
