Yes. Very casually turning the SSFA into a determination that any statute addressing race discrimination must be time-bound. Just absolutely untrue. An utter usurpation of Congress’ enforcement power under the 14th & 15th Amendments.
Justice Kavanaugh in the Callais oral argument keeps alluding to some longstanding requirement of strict scrutiny that use of race have a time limit. This is invented.

Update on my rescue dogs: Two of the three have been adopted and are thriving in their new homes! 🫶

Still looking for a foster/adoptive family for this little dude, who we’ve nicknamed Tux. As you can see, he is adjusting well to life as a couch potato.

If you live in HOU and are interested, lmk.

The approval of new coal and gas follows the UNFCCC “SSP5 - Fossil Fueled Development” scenario. which means *at least* 2.7°C, but more likely ~4°C by 2100
The government’s NCRA has made it clear that even 2°C, let alone 3°C, is disastrous for our environment, society and massively expensive
The Climate Council identifies another 38 new or expanded coal projects seeking federal government approval. Collectively, they would produce more than 5.7 billion tonnes of coal over their lifetimes, equivalent to more than 14 years of current production. satpa.pe/EC2PaCk
Labor’s slate for fossil fuel approvals
The Albanese government has already approved 31 fossil fuel projects, and more than that are waiting, even as renewables overtake coal as the top source of electricity.

I just watched the video of the Portland Cop threatening to arrest an ICE agent if they drive their truck through a crowd. Now I see this where the General of the Oregon National Guard says if they get called up they will protect the protesters. People are fed up.

Oregon general’s testimony that National Guard troops ‘will be protecting any protesters’ gains traction online
Brigadier General Alan R. Gronewold made the comments to state lawmakers Sept. 30, and they drew notice on social media this week.

Yes. I would expect lawsuits immediately. There are clear rules for RIFs, and this seemingly violates all of them.

Thank a federal worker, though - a good chunk of them are working without pay, even more of them are wondering if they’ll have to fight to even HAVE a job. Morale sucks right now.

It does, but Hegseth is claiming he misspoke. He issued a clarification that it will just be a joint training base (similar to how we do with Singapore and NATO nations) that’s fully under US control.

Not sure why he announced it as a literal Qatari air base, other than he’s a complete dunce.

If we are taking in “trillion” of dollars in tariffs:

1. Why haven’t we paid down a cent of the debt?

2. Why can’t we afford to not fuck millions of people over with expiring insurance subsidies?

3. Why is none of it being used to help the abysmal job market?
